Our Services

Comprehensive psychoeducational and social-emotional assessment services for children and their families.

We gather information regarding your child’s behaviour, learning habits, achievement, and social abilities using a variety of methods. These responses are evaluated to determine the nature of your child’s learning, attentional, social-developmental, and/or social-emotional difficulties. Once the assessment is completed, we meet to review the results. We will also provide you with a copy of the report for your family doctor and/or your child’s school. At The CAP Centre, we are committed to ensuring that the assessment process enhances an understanding of the underlying causes of a child’s behaviours. It is also important to us that the results are put to good use. We are ready to work with your child’s school and other professionals involved in your child’s support system to help interpret the results of the assessment and use the information to enrich their understanding of your child’s needs.

We also provide psychological treatment for children, adolescents, and families.

Treatment often begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. Once we have a clearer understanding of you and/or your child’s needs, we design a treatment plan with your collaboration. Treatment length is difficult to determine as it depends on a number of factors. It is important to note that at The CAP Centre, we are committed to delivering evidence-based treatments that have been proven to be efficacious. We strive to meet your treatment needs in the most effective and efficient way possible. At the conclusion of therapy, you can expect to be armed with valuable resources and coping mechanisms that can be used in everyday life. We may use one or several different therapeutic methods, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
  • Interpersonal Therapy
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy
  • Play Therapy
  • Individual, Group, or Family Therapy
  • Single Session Therapy
